About Kachemak
Kachemak is a small city on the Kenai Peninsula of Alaska, situated on the south shore of Kachemak Bay, a forty-mile arm of Cook Inlet. The bay's name is thought to derive from an Alutiiq word describing smoldering coal seams that once filled the water with smoke. Kachemak sits near Homer and shares the bay with Halibut Cove, Seldovia, and several Old Believer settlements. Kachemak Bay State Park, Alaska's only state wilderness park, lies just across the bay.
