Kahoka, MO

Kahoka was laid out in 1858, and its name reaches back to the Cahokia people of the Illinois Confederacy. The Clark County seat sits at the meeting of US 136 and Missouri 81, with the Fox River a mile or so northeast. The courthouse square still does the day-to-day county work, while the city keeps its own calendar moving with Old Settlers Day, Flag Day, Christmas on the Square, and a summer-fall farmers market. Omakohak Park adds a pool, trails, pickleball, courts, and ball fields. Kahoka is northeast Missouri in a practical county-seat package: farm country around the edges, civic business in the middle, and a river close by.
