About Kasaan
Kasaan is a small coastal city in the Prince of Wales-Hyder Census Area, Alaska, located on the east side of Prince of Wales Island. Deriving its name from a Tlingit word meaning "pretty town," the community serves as the headquarters of the Organized Village of Kasaan, a federally recognized tribe, and is a historic settlement of the Kaigani Haida. With a population of thirty residents, the town is served by the Barry Craig Stewart Kasaan School within the Southeast Island School District.
