About Keezletown
Keezletown is a Rockingham County census-designated place northeast of Harrisonburg, with a name that reaches back to George Keisell’s 100-acre tract. An October 1791 act of the Virginia Assembly established the place as Keisell’s-Town, one of Rockingham County’s early formal settlements; the spelling eventually settled into Keezletown. Keezletown Road follows an old valley route that once formed part of the Great Wagon Road, adding a transportation layer to the community’s German-settler history. Keezletown first appeared as a CDP in the 2020 census. It is a Virginia place whose legal town name is older than its census label.
