Kenefick, TX

Kenefick is a Liberty County town at the meeting of Farm Roads 1008 and 2797, about forty miles northeast of Houston. It grew during the East Texas lumber era, when a railroad and several sawmills brought a mill-town rhythm to the Green survey. The community took its name from the Kenefick Construction Company, and residents voted 42–0 to incorporate in 1968. Cattle, agriculture, and the roads toward Dayton still set the scale of the surrounding country.

Dayton ISD serves Kenefick, and Lee College's service area includes Dayton, giving local students a path from the town's schools into regional training and college programs. City Hall's current work is the practical stuff of utilities, permits, council meetings, community-center bookings, and county contacts for roads or law enforcement. Kenefick is small enough for a council calendar to feel close to home, but its FM-road junction keeps it tied to Liberty County's wider network. The town's daily life is a mix of old timber routes, school buses, and growing municipal routines.
