Kennard, TX

Tucked into the piney woods of eastern Houston County, Kennard got its start as a bustling timber hub in the early 1900s. The town was originally built around a massive sawmill, but after the lumber boom ended, the surrounding land was replanted in the 1930s and eventually became part of the Davy Crockett National Forest. Today, Kennard offers a quiet, rural setting with miles of tall pines, open skies, and a peaceful atmosphere right on the edge of the national forest.
