Kent has a surprising claim to fame: Boeing built the Apollo lunar rovers here back in the 1960s, and today Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin is headquartered right down in the valley. Alongside aerospace engineering, the valley floor serves as a major logistics and manufacturing hub for the entire Puget Sound region. Geographically, Kent is split into three main areas. The flat valley floor holds the historic downtown and commercial centers, while residential neighborhoods spread out over East Hill and West Hill, which climbs toward Interstate 5 and Sea-Tac Airport.

Getting around the region is straightforward thanks to Kent Station, a walkable retail and dining village built right next to the commuter rail depot. Residents can catch the Sounder train into downtown Seattle for an easy weekday commute, or stay local for dinner, movie nights, and weekend shopping. Long before subdivisions and logistics hubs arrived, the Green River Valley was home to the Muckleshoot and Puyallup Tribes, followed by generations of farmers. In the late 1800s, the area boomed with hop fields and took its name from England's famous hop-growing county.
