About Kenwood

Kenwood is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Sonoma County, on the Sonoma Highway between Santa Rosa and Sonoma. The 2020 census counted 852 residents. It lies east of Sonoma Creek in the upper Sonoma Valley, with Bennett Mountain to the west and Sugarloaf Ridge to the northeast. The community occupies part of the former Rancho Los Guilicos land grant. In 1887, the Sonoma Land & Improvement Company laid out lots ahead of the railroad's arrival the following year. Kenwood Plaza Park and Shaw Park are managed by Sonoma County Regional Parks.
