Kenyon, MN

Kenyon is a Goodhue County city on the North Fork of the Zumbro River, with 1,894 residents in the 2020 census. Founded in 1856 and named for Kenyon College, it grew around the river and the routes that now carry State Highways 56 and 60 through the area. The town’s best-known visual cue is the Boulevard of Roses along Main Street, a civic planting tradition that gave the annual Rosefest its name. The historic Gunderson House adds another layer, while the river valley and nearby farms keep the city’s setting distinctly southeastern Minnesota. Kenyon’s current rhythm is easy to read from the local calendar: Rosefest is set for August 19–23, 2026, the farmers market returns, and National Night Out and volunteer fire department activity sit alongside the regular work of utilities, streets, and city meetings.

The municipal pool gives summer its own gathering spot, and a completed industrial park has lots for new construction and businesses. Kenyon is close enough to Rochester and the Twin Cities for regional trips, but the town’s identity stays centered on Main Street, the river, roses, school and utility schedules, and the annual week when everybody seems to know the route of the parade.
