Kerby, OR

Kerby is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Josephine County, Oregon, United States, north of Cave Junction on U.S. Route 199. The 2020 census counted 628 residents. Kerby came into existence between 1854 and 1857. Kerby was named for James Kerby. Kerbyville Museum, established in 1959. The short version is that Kerby carries an earlier story into the places people know and use now. That is the local read on Kerby: its past remains attached to the places people use now. The community was founded during the heyday of Josephine County gold mining and went through numerous name changes in its early years. Kerby is in southwestern Josephine County, along U.S. Kerby is bordered to the south by Cave Junction.
