Ketchum, OK

Tucked along the shores of Grand Lake o' the Cherokees in northeast Oklahoma, Ketchum is a quiet community with a fascinating backstory. Originally founded in 1899 along the banks of the Grand River, the town actually packed up and relocated when the railroad arrived in 1912, which kept it safe from the valley that was later flooded to create the lake. Named in honor of Delaware minister James Ketchum, the area has held onto its easygoing rural charm through more than a century of change.

Today, Ketchum is home to fewer than 500 residents, giving it a close-knit feel where neighbors quickly become familiar faces. Everyday life largely revolves around the water, with boat ramps, fishing spots, and quiet marinas right down the road on the south end of the lake. Having local schools right in town anchors the community, while Highway 85 and the South Grand Lake Regional Airport make it easy to travel across Green Country while enjoying a relaxed lakeside pace.
