Killen, AL

Killen originally grew around a 19th-century canal system along the Tennessee River, and it has evolved into a welcoming, relaxed Lauderdale County community. While much of the old waterway was covered when Wilson Dam filled the lake, residents still head to the Lock Six recreation area for scenic water views, picnics, and boat launches. Everyday life revolves around neighborhood staples like Killen Park, the local library, and the Brooks schools. It offers an easygoing, small-town atmosphere with a quick commute to the rest of the Shoals.
