Kimberton, PA

Kimberton is a Chester County census-designated place in East Pikeland Township, centered on the old village roads near Route 113. The village began taking shape around Chrisman’s Tavern after late-eighteenth-century settlement, and the name Kimberton became established in 1817. The 2020 census counted 377 residents. The Kimberton Village Historic District preserves the pattern of a crossroads community where a tavern, mills, school, post office, and farms once worked together.

East Pikeland Township now handles the municipal layer: permits, planning, roads, meeting notices, and historic-district work. The township describes Kimberton as a local education, market, and transportation center, and its current calendar includes community events and an audio tour project. The Kimberton Fair adds a summer gathering point, while nearby Phoenixville and the larger Chester County road network handle shopping, work, and school trips. The tavern story still helps orient the village. Kimberton’s story is still written in the roads and buildings: the village center is small, but the old connections remain visible.
