About Kingsley

Kingsley is a small home-rule city inside Louisville's inner-ring neighborhood fabric. It occupies about 46 acres between Taylorsville Road, Tyler Lane, and Byron Avenue, beside Seneca Gardens, Strathmoor Manor, and Bowman Field. The land was once part of the Speed family's Farmington farm; developer C.C. Hieatt bought the acreage in 1924, laid out Kingsley as an extension of Strathmoor, and the city incorporated in 1939. The 2020 census counted 397 residents. Its civic boundaries are small, yet the airport and Louisville roads are immediately part of the setting.

That history still shows in the present-day scale. The city counts 179 single-family residences, two apartments, three businesses, and substantial green space. Sidewalks front every Kingsley property, and Kingsley Green serves as the neighborhood's shared open space; trash, recycling, and yard-waste pickup are handled through the city. Bowman Field's flight paths are a recurring city concern, and downtown Louisville is about six miles away. Kingsley is a small independent municipal pocket whose daily concerns are streets, sidewalks, parks, services, and the airport next door.
