Kipton, OH

With around 250 residents, Kipton is a tiny, peaceful village in Lorain County with an interesting spot in American history. In 1891, a collision at the local depot prompted watchmaker Webb C. Ball to set strict railroad timekeeping standards, which popularized the phrase "on the ball." The tracks were removed decades ago, and the old railway now serves as part of the North Coast Inland Trail, giving locals a paved route for walking, running, and cycling.

Kipton Community Park sits right in the middle of town and serves as a neighborhood gathering spot, featuring a playground, picnic pavilion, and direct access to the bike trail. Residents stay connected through monthly village meetings and regional traditions like the combined Kipton, Camden, and Henrietta Memorial Day parade. It offers a relaxed, rural pace of life with plenty of open space, all within an easy drive of nearby Oberlin.
