About Kobuk

Kobuk is a city in Northwest Arctic Borough, Alaska, with a population of 191 at the 2020 census. The community was established in 1899 as a supply point for miners working north of the Kobuk River in the Cosmos Hills, when traders built a post, school, and mission. The Kobuk School, operated by the Northwest Arctic Borough School District, serves the community and was composed entirely of Alaska Native students as of 2017.
