Kokhanok, AK

Kokhanok is a small village of around 150 people on the south shore of Lake Iliamna in southwest Alaska. Everyday life is deeply rooted in tradition and the outdoors, with residents hunting moose, harvesting wild berries, and fishing for world-class sockeye salmon. Travel in and out relies on small planes or seasonal boat rides across the water. It is a quiet, close-knit community where neighbors look out for each other, surrounded by the stunning wilderness near Katmai National Park.
