Kosse, TX

Kosse is a quiet rural community in southern Limestone County, Texas, located at the crossroads of State Highways 7 and 14, about seventeen miles south of Groesbeck. Home to around 460 residents, it offers a slow, peaceful pace of life within an easy drive of both Waco and Bryan-College Station. The area's roots go back to the 1840s stagecoach settlement of Eutaw along Duck Creek, but when the Houston and Texas Central Railway laid tracks a few miles away in 1870, the town moved over to the line and incorporated as Kosse the following year.

Today, daily life revolves around ranching, farming, and major regional employers like the Luminant Kosse Mine, alongside a scattering of locally owned businesses. School-age children are served by the Groesbeck Independent School District. For outdoor recreation, residents enjoy quick access to Lake Limestone and Fort Parker State Park for fishing, boating, and weekend camping trips. In the heart of town, the open-air 1912 Kosse Tabernacle stands as a cherished landmark, still bringing neighbors together for community suppers, holiday gatherings, and town events.
