Koyuk, AK

Koyuk is a remote coastal village perched at the mouth of the Koyuk River on Norton Bay, roughly 90 miles northeast of Nome. Like many rural Alaskan communities, there are no connecting roads, so getting in and out means catching a small bush plane or traveling by boat and snowmachine. Daily life follows the rhythm of the seasons, with residents heading out onto the tundra and water to hunt, fish for salmon, and gather berries.

The community revolves around the Koyuk-Malimiut School, which educates local kids from preschool through high school under the Bering Strait School District.
