About Kuna

Kuna added thousands of residents between the 2020 census and the July 2025 population estimate. The city had 24,011 residents in 2020 and an estimated 31,525 five years later. Its older pattern is still visible around Indian Creek. Irrigation and agriculture attracted settlers, and a railroad stop became the catalyst for a permanent town that grew from a rail-and-farm beginning into a rapidly urbanizing community. The city also sits on the approach to the Morley Nelson Snake River Birds of Prey National Conservation Area. South of town, the Snake River canyon's cliffs and thermal updrafts support about 800 nesting pairs of hawks, owls, eagles, and falcons each spring. Indian Creek remains a center of everyday recreation. Kuna's greenbelt follows it from behind Indian Creek Elementary School to Orchard Street, with a walking path, picnic areas, ball fields, a BMX dirt track, skate park, and creek access.

Beside the trail and ball fields, the seasonal splash pad opened for 2026 on May 23 with daily hours of 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Much of the city's event calendar uses the greenbelt or downtown Bernie Fisher Park: the 2026 schedule included a three-day Hometown Fair, outdoor movies, a July music festival, a Kuna Days mud run and cornhole tournament, and a December park-lighting event. The free Hometown Fair itself used Bernie Fisher Park for midway rides, a local-vendor zone, food trucks, and a children's area. Kuna Library District adds a six-day indoor gathering place with summer reading, early-childhood programs, meeting and study rooms, passport appointments, digital books, and online learning resources.
