La Bolt, SD

La Bolt is a Grant County town named for pioneer Alfred Labolt, established around 1899 and incorporated in 1901. It sits in northeastern South Dakota’s Coteau landscape and waterways, where railroad arrival in 1880 helped create the county’s settlement network and agriculture remains central. Sewer, street lights, and utility work remain part of town administration, while county government is centered in Milbank.
