About La Palma
La Palma began as Dairyland, one of three dairy cities in its part of northern Orange County. It incorporated on October 26, 1955. When the dairies moved east in 1965, the community adopted its current name, drawing on both the region’s Spanish heritage and La Palma Avenue, its principal thoroughfare. With the smallest municipal area in Orange County, La Palma nevertheless counted 15,581 residents in 2020, nearly unchanged from 15,568 in 2010. The city has its own Orange County Library branch, while its elementary schools fall within both the Centralia and Cypress school districts.
