La Porte, TX

La Porte is a Harris County city in the Bay Area of greater Houston, near major industrial districts and the Houston Ship Channel economy. In the early twentieth century, Sylvan Beach made La Porte a well-known tourist destination, drawing visitors to the bayfront. The city rebuilt and evolved as Houston's oil and industrial growth transformed the region. Today La Porte combines old resort-town traces, waterfront recreation, and a practical blue-collar industrial role near Bayport, Battleground, and Barbours Cut.
