Lacoochee, FL

Lacoochee sits along the Withlacoochee River in northeast Pasco County, with roots stretching back to its days as a bustling Florida timber town. In the 1920s, it was a lively company settlement centered around the Cummer Cypress sawmill, complete with its own rail stop, store, and worker neighborhoods. The mill shut down decades ago, but the community held onto its easygoing character and deep local history.

Today, Lacoochee is a quiet, rural spot surrounded by the cypress forests of the Green Swamp and the river. It offers plenty of open space for anyone looking for a slower pace, while still keeping you within a quick drive of Dade City for supermarkets, schools, and downtown dining. Longtime ties with neighboring Trilby and Trilacoochee give the whole area a familiar, close-knit feel where people wave to each other on the way home.
