Lake Jackson, TX

Lake Jackson is a Brazoria County city near the Texas Gulf Coast, originally built in the early 1940s as a planned community for Dow Chemical workers. Its layout was designed by architect Alden B. Dow, giving the city a more intentional structure than many nearby industrial towns. Lake Jackson still sits close to major petrochemical employers, but it also has schools, parks, libraries, and access to coastal recreation. It feels planned, practical, and closely tied to the wider Freeport area.
