Lake LeAnn, MI

Lake LeAnn is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Hillsdale County's Somerset Township, in Michigan's Irish Hills. The 2020 census counted 1,571 residents. The community includes the namesake Lake LeAnn and several smaller lakes at the headwaters of the Grand River. Two man-made lake basins were developed in the early 1960s, turning old farm parcels and natural water into a shoreline-centered community along US 12. The shoreline is the neighborhood's main reference point, shaping both the views and the road names.

Most local roads point back to the water, with lake access, boat launches, wooded lots, and subdivisions spread across the shoreline. US 12 is the quick east-west line, running toward Ypsilanti on one side and Coldwater on the other, while Somerset Center is the nearby crossroads. Lake LeAnn is not a main-street town so much as a lakeside pocket with its own name, its own road network, and a very clear relationship to the Grand River's first miles.
