Lake Lorraine is a census-designated place in Okaloosa County, Florida, situated adjacent to Fort Walton Beach and Eglin Air Force Base. Part of the Crestview-Fort Walton Beach-Destin metropolitan area, the community of approximately 6,900 carries a Shalimar postal address. Originally developed around a golf course in the 1970s, the residential neighborhood is located on a coastal inlet that was historically a fresh-water lake before breaching to the Choctawhatchee Bay in the 1990s.
