About Lake McMurray
Lake McMurray is a Skagit County census-designated place named for the lake at its center. The settlement was platted in 1890 when the railroad reached the area, and a McMurray post office operated from that year until 1945. Today the useful local frame is the lake, the old rail-era name, and the Conway School District. There is no incorporated town center to point to; Lake McMurray is a map-defined community whose history is carried by the water and the former railroad line. It is a small Washington place with the lake doing the first half of the introduction.
