About Lake Montezuma

Lake Montezuma is a census-designated place in Yavapai County, Arizona, encompassing the communities of Rimrock and McGuireville. In 1957, following the construction of the Black Canyon Highway north from Phoenix, a large local ranch in Rimrock was transformed into the Lake Montezuma residential subdivision. Historically situated at a historic road junction near Stoneman Lake, the semi-arid community features a relaxed desert lifestyle and is served by the Beaver Creek School District.
