Lake Quivira, KS

Lake Quivira is a small, gated lake town located just west of Kansas City, straddling the border between Johnson and Wyandotte counties. Home to roughly 1,000 people, the neighborhood started in the 1920s as a private retreat centered on a 224-acre lake and a golf course. Residents later incorporated as an independent city in 1971, which allows the community to manage its own services while maintaining a quiet, private country-club atmosphere.

Day-to-day life here revolves around the water, the clubhouse, and the outdoors. Neighbors often get around by golf cart, spending summer afternoons boating, fishing, or relaxing at the community beach. Depending on where you live in town, students attend either the Shawnee Mission or Turner school districts. Downtown Kansas City is only about a twenty-minute drive away, giving residents an easy commute to major employers, hospitals, and cultural attractions while keeping a relaxed lakefront routine at home.
