About Lake Waynoka

Lake Waynoka is a Brown County census-designated place and private lake community built around a 290-acre reservoir between Sardinia and Russellville. Developer Ed Wren Jr. began the project in 1970 by buying farm land, damming Straight Creek, and laying out roads and lots around the water. The community later took over its utilities and property-owner governance, giving the planned development its own civic structure. Lake Waynoka is an Ohio place made from reservoir, roads, private governance, and a 1970s recreation plan.
