About Lakeside

Lakeside is an Ottawa County CDP on Lake Erie, a church-founded community that grew from an 1873 Methodist camp meeting into one of the country's long-running Chautauqua grounds. The whole place sits inside the Lakeside Historic District, so cottages, auditoriums, and the lakefront all belong to the same story. Summer brings lectures, worship, music, and old-school programming; the off-season changes the pace. Lakeside is northern Ohio in a Lake Erie-and-Chautauqua shape, with the calendar still built around the water.
