Lakeview, LA

Lakeview is an unincorporated Caddo Parish community and census-designated place on the north shore of Cross Lake, roughly five miles northwest of Shreveport. It belongs to the Caddo Parish School District but stays closely tied to Shreveport for jobs, services, shopping, and regional recreation. Cross Lake is more than a backdrop: a dam across Cross Bayou formed the reservoir in 1926, and the lake became the primary drinking-water supply for the city. Its shoreline mixes homes, wooded wetland, piers, marinas, and roads that bend around the water.

Lakeview's everyday geography turns on water levels and access. Cross Lake Patrol handles boating questions and registration, while Shreveport's Municipal Pier and Boat Launch and other launches connect anglers and boaters to the lake. Richard Fleming Park, where Shettleworth Bayou empties into Cross Lake, adds two ramps, a dock, accessible fishing pier, picnic tables, pavilion, playground, open field, and a short nature trail. Caddo Parish and Shreveport periodically improve or restrict launches during high water. Lakeview's local character comes from living beside a working reservoir: school routes and city errands on one side, fishing, boat traffic, and changing lake conditions on the other.
