Lamar is a home rule city and the county seat of Prowers County, Colorado, operating as the largest city in the southeastern part of the state. Named for Secretary of the Interior Lucius Lamar and served by Amtrak's Southwest Chief line, the community of approximately 7,611 is served by the Lamar School District RE-2.
