About Lamont

Lamont is a census-designated place in Kern County, California, situated nine miles south-southeast of Bakersfield in the southern San Joaquin Valley. Founded in 1923, the community of approximately 13,200 expanded significantly during the mid-twentieth century due to the migration of agricultural workers fleeing the Dust Bowl. Zoned within the Lamont School District and the Kern High School District, the town remains an active agricultural hub.
