Sitting roughly 30 miles southeast of Columbus along the Hocking River, Lancaster blends classic small-town character with the everyday conveniences of a regional hub. The city has a proud glassmaking heritage that continues today, anchored by historic production plants and the downtown Ohio Glass Museum, where visitors can watch live glassblowing demonstrations. Just east of downtown, Rising Park is home to Mount Pleasant, a 250-foot sandstone bluff. Every October, the Fairfield County Fair takes over the grounds below Mount Pleasant for a full week of livestock competitions, demolition derbies, and harvest exhibits. During the summer, the Lancaster Festival fills local parks, historic venues, and campus lawns with live orchestral performances, concerts, and art walks. Downtown also stays lively year-round thanks to rotating exhibits at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio and hands-on classes at the glass studio.
