About Lansing
Lansing is a south suburban Chicago village near the Indiana line, about 24 miles from the Loop. Its first permanent settler family arrived in the 1840s, and the village later grew into the industrial and commuter landscape of the Calumet region. Lansing has a practical, blue-collar Southland feel, with schools, local churches, older commercial corridors, and regional roads shaping everyday life. It is close enough to Chicago to be metropolitan, but its position near Indiana gives it a border-town edge.
