About Lansing

Lansing started out as a quiet trading hub for Ashe County mountain farmers before finding its stride as a bustling railroad stop in the early 1900s. When the tracks came through the valley, they brought a wave of timber workers, general stores, a bank, and a lively main street. Even after the trains stopped running, the town held onto that compact, walkable footprint and its deep connection to the surrounding hills.
