Lapel is a town in Stony Creek and Green townships, Madison County, Indiana, operating within the Indianapolis metropolitan area. Platted in 1876 by David Conrad and Samuel Busby and uniquely named for the coat-lapel shape created by the arriving railway line, the community of approximately 2,668 is served by the Frankton-Lapel Community Schools district locally.
