Lapel, IN

Lapel is a quiet Madison County town sitting about thirty miles northeast of Indianapolis. Home to around 2,300 people, it gives residents a classic small-town pace while keeping them close to bigger job centers and shopping in Noblesville, Fishers, and Anderson. The town was established in the 1870s when the railroad arrived, taking its name from a track curve that looked like the lapel of a suit jacket. Today, State Road 13 runs straight through town as Pendleton Avenue, serving as the main route for daily commutes and trips to neighboring areas.

The community is especially popular with families thanks to its local school system, with Lapel's elementary, middle, and high schools all located right in town. Quiet residential streets and a compact downtown make it easy to navigate, and the surrounding farmland and creek corridors provide plenty of open space.
