Larchmont, NY

Larchmont is an incorporated village within the Town of Mamaroneck, occupying about one square mile along Long Island Sound in Westchester County. The New Haven Line station connects it with neighboring Sound Shore communities and Grand Central Terminal, while Boston Post Road and Interstate 95 define major land routes. Larchmont incorporated in 1891 after developing as a nineteenth-century summer destination; Victorian houses from that period remain in Larchmont Manor. Two business districts sit inland from the rocky shoreline. Village Hall, the public library, and Constitution Park cluster on Larchmont Avenue. Nine public parks and a separate reservoir conservation area distribute recreation across the village. Flint Park, the largest, contains grass and artificial-turf fields, tennis and paddle courts, basketball, nature trails, picnic areas, and the village's largest playground.

It also hosts summer day camp, the Sprint to Flint run, and Fourth of July races. Constitution Park has a playground, gazebo, performance patio, and green used for the summer concert series and Larchmont Arts Festival. The 60-acre Larchmont Reservoir provides lakeside and woodland trails beyond the village boundary. Manor Park is different: the Larchmont Manor Park Society privately owns the Sound-front property, and its beach facilities are limited to residents of the 10538 ZIP Code. The Larchmont Public Library serves both the village and unincorporated Mamaroneck under an intermunicipal agreement. Opened in November 1926, it is marking its centennial in 2026 with reading programs and decade-themed events while continuing adult, teen, and children's programs, digital collections, public internet, and reservable study and meeting rooms.
