Las Flores is a tiny Tehama County census-designated place in the northern Sacramento Valley, sitting at about 249 feet on less than half a square mile of flat land. The surrounding map is farm country and small valley communities near Gerber, with county roads and the railroad corridor doing more of the connecting than a formal town center. Las Flores began in 1916 as a railroad community, and its Spanish name—the flowers—has held on even as the settlement stayed small. The place first appeared as its own CDP in the 2010 census, when the older Gerber-Las Flores statistical place was divided into separate Gerber and Las Flores areas.
