Las Vegas is the county seat of San Miguel County, New Mexico, situated along the Gallinas River. Established as a historic stop on the Santa Fe Trail, the city of approximately 13,000 is home to New Mexico Highlands University. Public education is divided between the Las Vegas City and West Las Vegas school districts.
