About Lauderdale Lakes

Lauderdale Lakes is a Broward County city in South Florida, west of Fort Lauderdale and near Oakland Park. It was incorporated in 1961 and originally became popular as a retirement community for winter residents. Over time, it developed into a denser, more diverse city within the broader Fort Lauderdale area. Broward County Public Schools serves the community, and the city has also had a practical commercial history, including the former headquarters of Sports Authority before that company merged with Gart Sports.
