Laurel, MD

Laurel sits along the Patuxent River, right in the sweet spot between Baltimore and Washington, D.C. The city got its start in the early nineteenth century as a bustling cotton mill town, and you can still spot historic brick mill workers' homes along the west end of Main Street today. Over the years, Laurel has grown into a vibrant community of about 30,000 residents, keeping its rich local history and distinct riverside footprint intact.

Historic Main Street serves as the walkable center of town, filled with independent shops, mom-and-pop restaurants, and local art spaces. The neighborhood holds onto its original character, anchored by the Laurel Museum, which is housed in a restored 1840s mill worker's home and showcases the stories of the families who built the area.
