Laurens, NY

Laurens is a town in Otsego County, New York, United States. The 2010 census counted 2,424 residents. Laurens is in the southern half of the county, north of Oneonta. There is also a village named Laurens, located in the town. The through line in Laurens is the way its history and present-day settings remain visible on the same map. Laurens makes the most sense through those concrete details, with its history still visible in the settings people use today. The town was first settled by Europeans around 1773. Joseph Mayall arrived in 1773 about one mile north of the present Laurens village. Otego Creek flows southward through the eastern part of Laurens.
