About Lawrenceburg

Lawrenceburg is a home rule-class city and the county seat of Anderson County, Kentucky, part of the Frankfort micropolitan area. Originally settled in the early 1780s by German immigrant Jacob Kaufman, the site became the community of Lawrenceburg in 1817, named for William Lawrence, a local tavern owner. Home to approximately 11,900 residents, the city is served by Anderson County Schools and is home to Kavanaugh School, a college preparatory academy founded in 1904.
