Lawrenceville, PA

Lawrenceville is a Tioga County borough at the northern edge of Pennsylvania, where the Tioga and Cowanesque rivers meet near the New York line. Pennsylvania Routes 287 and 49 cross at the center of town, and the intersection's single traffic light still gives the borough a clear crossroads feel. The surrounding Northern Tier landscape is a mix of wooded hills, farms, river valleys, and small communities, with Cowanesque Lake a short drive to the west. Lawrenceville is also part of the Northern Tioga School District, tying the borough to a much wider rural school network.

The town's older buildings carry a strong upstate-border look. Federal-style and Greek Revival houses survived fires that tore through the business district in 1867 and 1868, leaving pieces of the nineteenth-century street pattern alongside later homes and storefronts. The borough's life has always been shaped by its position at the edge of two regions: Pennsylvania's Tioga County to the south and New York's Southern Tier just across the state line. That makes Lawrenceville a place people pass through on the way to lakes, farms, or the next county, but also a place with its own small-town center, school ties, and river-valley history.
