Leadville, CO

Sitting at 10,152 feet between Colorado's two highest peaks, Mount Elbert and Mount Massive, Leadville is the highest incorporated city in North America. With around 2,600 residents, it retains the grounded charm of an authentic Victorian mining town. Historic brick storefronts line Harrison Avenue, while the paved Mineral Belt Trail loops around the perimeter, giving locals easy access to mountain views and high-altitude trails.

Everyday life here revolves around the outdoors, with easy access to skiing at Ski Cooper, hiking in the San Isabel National Forest, and fishing along the headwaters of the Arkansas River. Lake County public schools and a local Colorado Mountain College campus support the community year-round. Winters are long and snowy at over 10,000 feet, but the stunning alpine scenery and down-to-earth neighbors make it a great place to put down roots.
