Many central neighborhoods feature turn-of-the-century houses with genuine character; just be sure to check the condition of older foundations, wiring, and local historic district guidelines before planning exterior updates. If you prefer low-maintenance living, newer subdivisions on the west side offer modern layouts and attached garages. Daily drives around town are quick and easy, while commuters heading into downtown Kansas City, Johnson County, or the airport can expect a thirty- to forty-five-minute trip along Highway 7 or Route 73.
