About Lebanon

Incorporated in 1801, Lebanon was named for the biblical cedars of Lebanon and is still locally called “Cedar City.” The Wilson County seat lies about 25 miles east of downtown Nashville; the 2020 census counted 38,431 residents. Cumberland University was founded there in 1842. Dan Evins founded Cracker Barrel in Lebanon in 1969. Lebanon also hosts the annual Tennessee State/Wilson County Fair, while Nashville Superspeedway stages NASCAR and IndyCar races.
